The battle of Gorni Dubnik was\u00a0fought in October 24th 1877. The victory was important for the fall of Pleven that\u00a0surrendered six weeks afterwards to the Russians. There was also a Finnish sharpshooter\u00a0battalion that took part into the battle.\u00a0One battalion can\u00b4t change the course of history. That being said, this battalion\u00a0was at the time the only infantry force of the Russian Great Duchy of Finland, and\u00a0thus all it could offer.\u00a0Later generations both in Finland and in Bulgaria have commemorated in many\u00a0ways the part of the Finnish Guard in the battle of Gorni Dubnik. Exactly four years\u00a0after the battle, October 24th of 1881, a memorial stone was revealed at the yard of\u00a0the Guards battalion\u00b4s barracks in Finland.
